  • Council is seeking to appoint an independent member to its Audit and Risk Committee (the Committee) for a period of three years.
  • Enjoy a dynamic committee where broad senior business, risk, audit and/or financial reporting/management knowledge and experience are highly valued.
  • The committee meets 5 times annually and remuneration is set competitively for a peri-urban Council

The Committee comprises up to four independent members and two Councillors, all of whom have full voting rights.Membership on the committee will see you: * Actively and constructively contribute towards the Committee’s performance through the provision of professional, independent and objective advice in respect of the delivery of the Audit and Risk Committee Charter;

Operations Support Intern
  • Provide independent advice on internal audit, governance and risk management plans, and other reports as required;
  • Provide objective advice on Council’s processes, procedures or internal control mechanisms; and
  • Provide analysis and constructive comment on projects, reports, briefings, options or issues papers as required.
  • Adequately prepare for and attend all Council Audit and Risk Committee meetings.

Due to the departure of one of the three independent members, Council has an exciting opportunity for an independent member to join its Audit and Risk Committee and is calling for applications from people who may be interested in this position. The position is offered for a three-year term, with a second three-year term option.The successful candidate will have detailed knowledge and experience in the operations of a large organisation, public sector management and an understanding of financial, management, risk, reporting and governance practices. An inquiring mind and the ability to analyse information will assist in carrying out this role.About the Successful CandidateThe successful candidate for this role would preferably have knowledge of:

  • Operations of a large organisation;
  • Understanding of financial management and Audit practices;
  • Understanding of risk, business continuity, and cyber security principals;
  • Reporting and Governance practices;
  • Ability to analyse information;
  • Knowledge of Local Government;
  • and Capacity to commit to the workload required and to attend Committee meetings.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate a well-developed ability to apply appropriate analytical and strategic management skills, including, experience within public sector management.
