Descripción de funciones: Main purpose of the job:

  • The Fieldworker Teamleader deputises the Supervisor in the daily functions of the field team
  • In the absence of the Supervisor, the Teamleader performs the role of the Supervisor
  • On a daily basis, the Teamleader assists the Supervisor in guiding, monitoring and leading the team on all aspects of the daily field activities

  • VIDA, Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (Soweto – Johannesburg) and field sites as per study requirements

Key performance areas:

  • Implement the study protocol and procedures at study sites consistently and accurately, as directed
  • Conduct informed consent process in accordance with the study protocol and ethics requirements
  • Recruit and enroll eligible participants according to study inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • Conduct household visits for data collection according set procedures and targets
  • Report on number of participants interviewed on daily basis to team leader
  • Foster good relations with community members in accordance with community liaison strategies
  • Establish a relationship of trust and respect with participants
  • Assisting Team Leader to ensure that scheduled times and relevant targets are met
  • Assisting Team Leader to ensure high quality data are collected by team members
  • Transporting data collectors to and from the field when the Team Leader is not available
  • Responsible for ensuring that vehicles are maintained in accordance with company standards and policy, including but not limited to cleanliness, required operational status and condition, security
  • Assist in providing appropriate solutions to tasks or deadlines not met
  • Keeping a record of the team’s progress against planned targets in the absence of the Team Leader and actively participating in devising in-field measures to make up for lost productivity
  • Actively foster a positive working environment through effective communication and contributing to conflict resolution within the team
  • Demonstrate effective self-management, time management, planning and communication
  • Take ownership for driving own career development; proactively participate in training activities
  • Apply knowledge of organisational systems, policies and procedures to achieve results and productivity
  • Support, promote and drive the organisation’s core values and brand

Required minimum education and training:

  • Matric
  • Must have Driver’s License and be able to drive a Manual vehicle

Required minimum work experience:

  • At least 1 years’ experience in Research Environment

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:

  • Computer literacy, research experience, post-matric qualification, Good Clinical Practice certification, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team, attention to detail, motivated, organised, friendly, professional
